We are holding the First Annual “PAWS for the LAW” fundraising event at The French Quarter Vet to Honor and Support the NOPD K9 Unit.

(Specifically for the 2 recently acquired Bomb sniffing dogs.)

It’s not surprising the money budgeted by the city to take care of our four legged security force (Who work without pay by the way) doesn’t come close to taking care of the day to day needs of these brave guardians.

Housing, feeding, veterinary care, training, certification testing, not to mention their astronomical initial cost to acquire them which is around $20,000 or more.

The NOPD K9 Unit is composed of 3 types of crossed trained duties of Canines, Narcotics, Bomb Sniffing and Criminal Apprehension.

These dogs unfortunately will be receiving a sub optimal care that will prevent them from performing at their best in a time of need.

Most often the trainers who work with these dogs end up taking them home to care for them properly as they’re living conditions and overall kennel situation needs to be improved erratically.

Jo and Carlos are only a few of K9 officers that have been trained with the NOPD.This event will ensure that both the training classes and courses it takes to become a Canine Officer will continue throughout the years. These K9 officers would risk their life everyday to ensure and maintain our safety. To try and return the favor with the best care from on the force to retirement we are having this Free Block Party!

Our goal is to provide them with a little extra to show our appreciation in hopes to acquire more Canine Officers like Jo and Carlos to help not only maintain The Gem of the City but the rest of New Orleans, your funding will allow this program to be a successful K9 unit not only here but of many opportunities that may come their way to help lives.

This is where we need your help! The event on April 28th from 6-9pm I ask you to come and celebrate and support these hard working dogs and their handlers from the Police Department. We will have a Live Band, music, food

and drinks. A true celebration in NOLA style for New Orleans Finest. Please post this on YOUR Facebook and ask all of your friends to share it with their friends. Spread the word every way possible to come to this fun event. We are having the street shut down so it will be literally a block party and a lot of fun!! And completely FREE!!!

Testimonials

Feedback from our clients

  • "great first experience! I was visiting New Orleans on my way to Miami and needed to get my pup checked up and a prescription for Heartgard. They fit me in same day and were extremely accommodating. Scott Griffith was the vet that took care of us and he was informative, nice, and super helpful!"
